Adult Life Lesson: Vaginal Care -- WARNING

Dear Women,

***This article is for health purposes only, any sexual reference comment is not allowed or tolerated and will be blocked.***

As a woman, I think it's important that we discuss about our vagina's. Now I know, why would we need to talk about our vagina's but some people may have questions but are afraid to ask them, or may just not know about how to keep your vagina healthy and clean.

As us women mature, our bodies change from the time we're babies until the time we die. We have hormones,
get our periods, grow breast, pimples, and even our vagina changes as well. Our vagina work by themselves, if you take too much care of it, you can cause danger to her, but if you don't care for her enough, you can cause danger her as well. Finding a medium in between the two will make you and your vagina very happy! So, here are somethings I do as well as some online research and doctor references, I found out some interesting things about women's bodies, so here's the list:

1. Daily wash

This one is common sense but did you know that your not suppose to use soap when you wash down there? Harsh chemicals in soap can do one of two things; break down the pH balance that keeps your
vagina healthy or make you really irritated. It's recommended that you use warm water and a wash cloth or your hands and your done! If you end up using soap use a feminine wash but make sure to do your research, some of those products have dyes and fragrances that can irritate your vagina as well. Also, no douching, this can through off your pH balance as well.

2. Eat healthy

This is an automatic given, your suppose to eat healthy in general but this can help your vagina to
stay regular too. Fruits that have citric acid in them are great for a great smelling vagina. Pineapples, strawberries, blue berries are all great things to. If your not a fruit person other foods such as yogurt, kimchi, garlic and kombucha are great as well. Drinking water also flushes toxins out the body and is very healthy for all over general health as well.

3. Cotton underwear

Wearing cotton underwear keeps you cool and also allows air to travel freely. If the vagina stays damp you will be promoting yeast or other bacteria to grow. If you like thongs or silk like underwear just make sure that there's a cotton liner inside the underwear.

4. Wipe from front to back

You want to wipe from front to back because you don't want fecal matter, or poop in other words, to come in contact with your vagina and cause an infection. Use regular toilet paper, no chemically scented, or wet wipes which could also through off your pH balance.

5. Use a condom

Not only can condoms prevent STD's and pregnancy, it can also protect you from bacteria that you can get from having unprotected sex. Vaginosis, vaginitis, yeast infections, and traichomoniasis just to name a few are some things you can possibly contract from unsafe sex. The most common symptoms are itching, burning, green or yellowish discharge, frequent urinating (unless you drink a lot of water), and pain during intercourse.

6. Wash and Pee after Sex

Making sure to wash thoroughly, you want to clean the vagina after sex. If you don't your opening yourself to infection and other microscopic substances, if you don't end up showering after just use a wash cloth. Semen can upset the balance and leave it prone to bacteria growth.  Peeing after sex helps flush out bacteria that can infect the urethra, that is connected to the bladder which can lead to a bladder infection.
7. Change Frequently/Wear Breathable Clothes

Again, you want to make sure that air is able to travel to make sure that bacteria and yeast doesn't grow. With saying that, you want to make sure to change your pad and/or tampon after a few hours. (Fact: tampons can cause Toxic Shock Syndrome or TSS. This is a rare, life-threatening bacterial illness which causes, high fever, low blood pressure, rash, and shut down of multiple organ systems). Make sure that you don't sit in wet clothes, like the previous steps, these actions are prone to yeast infections.

8. Test for STDs

Chlamydiae, HPV, genital warts and others can cause life threatening effects if not treated right away. If you have unprotected sex your more likely to get these diseases, so it's best to go to the doctor and get regularly tested to prevent these diseases.

9. Kegel Exercises

This helps tightens the pelvic floor muscles which can weaken with age and after child birth. It also helps frequent urination, to locate this muscle pretend you're stopping urination midstream. Practice squeezing that muscle for five seconds, ten times. (Fact: don't practice this while peeing because you can give yourself a UTI)

10. Be Mature

You want to keep a mature mind when addressing these symptoms and when caring for your body. No ones going to care for you like, you! So make sure that your always on top of your health, go to the doctors regularly, even if you have to think if something isn't right, go to the doctors and get checked out. And don't be scared because you have me as a friend to be there for you!

The purpose for this post is to educate people and making sure people stay happy and healthy. Please if you have any questions or if you want to comment please do! How do you take care of your vagina? Did you learn something new or are you already an expert? Until next time ❤️

With Love & Sweetness,
